Message from Dean Miguel Mostafá

Dean Miguel Mostafa at CST Graduation

Welcome to the College of Science and Technology!

As dean, I am pleased to extend a warm greeting to all of you as we embark on another exciting academic year.

CST is a vibrant community dedicated to excellence in education, research and innovation. Whether you are a new student beginning your academic journey or a returning member of our community, you are an integral part of our mission to advance knowledge and foster discovery in the sciences and technology.

This year will be an exciting one. We are introducing new undergraduate majors: cybersecurity, integrative genetics and genomics and general science and mathematics with teaching.

At the graduate level, there is a new Professional Science Master’s (PSM) degree in medical dosimetry, a growing healthcare field offering many career opportunities. Medical dosimetry joins our other advanced PSMs in bioinformatics, bioinnovation, biotechnology, forensic chemistry and more.

Our renowned faculty continue their cutting-edge research, offering students opportunities to explore biofiltration basins, mathematical neuroscience, cancer cures, evolutionary epidemiology, quarks and gluons and much more. CST is building stronger partnerships with Fox Chase Cancer Center, Lewis Katz School of Medicine and Temple’s Ambler Campus that can enhance your education and further prepare you for the challenges of the future.

Our distinguished faculty and dedicated staff are here to support you every step of the way, providing guidance, mentorship and resources to help you achieve your goals.

We believe in the power of collaboration and interdisciplinary study to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems. I encourage you to take advantage of the diverse opportunities available within our college, to engage with your peers, and to pursue your passions with curiosity and determination.

As we move forward together, let us continue to uphold the values of integrity, inclusivity, and excellence that define our community. I am confident that each of you will contribute in meaningful ways to our shared mission and make lasting impacts both within and beyond our college.

Thank you for being part of our dynamic and inspiring community. I look forward to the accomplishments we will achieve together.

Sincerely,

Miguel Mostafá

Previous Dean's Messages

Winter 2023

The College of Science and Technology is extraordinary.

I am honored to be CST’s new dean. Although my tenure only began on October 1, 2023, I have already seen our faculty’s commitment to teaching and research and our staff’s dedication to students. What they do here every day is remarkable. They inspire. They support. They guide students on their journey to successful careers or to graduate or professional school.

Michael L. Klein, FRS, who served as CST dean for more than a decade, set a very high standard of excellence. I thank him for his encouragement and mentorship as I work to build on his legacy of success.

CST offers so much to students who want to explore science and technology. We have:

  • Six academic departments: Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics and Physics
  • Fourteen research institutes and centers advancing interdisciplinary knowledge
  • More than 30 undergraduate majors, including genomic medicine, data science and ecology, evolution and biodiversity
  • Academic programs, co-curricular activities and advising that supports first-year students and students who are the first in their families to attend college
  • Doctoral, master’s, professional science master’s and postbaccalaureate options
  • The Science Education and Research Center, our home to advanced multidisciplinary teaching and research

I am excited to begin this journey here at CST and Temple University. I have been embraced with such warmth and support. I look forward to working together to advance CST, support our students and impact our world.

Sincerely,

Miguel Mostafá
